The library welcomes visitors during our open hours and serves as a gathering place for a variety of public events, including regular weekend meditations, monthly workshops, and a seasonal lecture series.
The Library of the Theosophical Society in Seattle, located just behind Quest Bookshop, offers a unique collection of books encompassing philosophical and spiritual traditions of the East and West, including a special selection emphasizing the Ancient Wisdom tradition that has found expression in modern times as Theosophy.
First established in the late 1920s, the Seattle Theosophical Library has nearly 8,000 books, periodicals, and media dealing with Theosophy, mysticism, esotericism, comparative religion, philosophy, and related subjects.
The library also hosts a bound collection of The Theosophist journal dating back to 1885, as well as other early theosophical periodicals and rare texts.
We intend for our library to be a rich source of inspiration for those seeking inner development, and a center for exploration into world religions, philosophy, and the powers latent in humanity. We do this by providing a vital store of knowledge in a venerable and welcoming setting that encourages study, meditation, and the opportunity to share one’s search for truth in the company of others.
The library has become a center for the exploration and study of Theosophy, healing, meditation, astrology, psychology, and spirituality. It is a rich source of inspiration for artists, students, and thinkers interested in the process of inner development.
