Presented by Erica Olivera
L. Frank Baum is best known as the author of the American fairy tale: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, a story that has impacted every generation since its first publication in 1900. As well as being a children’s book author, Baum was also a member of the Theosophical Society for the last 27 years of his life alongside his wife and mother-in-law.
Erica Olivera, a member of the International Wizard of Oz Club, will discuss Baum’s involvement in Theosophy and how the views he developed shaped his writing. Erica will talk about some of the major themes that arise throughout Baum’s fourteen Oz books such as identity, justice, and unity, and how his messages align with the objectives and views of the Theosophical Society.
